What is the 'Skinification' of Hair?

The skinification of hair? Never heard of her? Well you're about to be informed. In the last few years, the skincare boom has taken the beauty industry over by storm. But did you know that your scalp is technically to be considered a part of the skincare regime? The scalp is essentially an extension of the skin on your face, which is why we should be giving it the same love and attention! At Briogeo, we actually have an entire collection dedicated to giving you the necessary TLC your scalp needs: our Scalp Revival collection.

Scalp Concerns

Scalp issues are basically caused by bad bacteria on the scalp. This bacteria can actually build up deep in the hair follicle overtime leading to irritated and sometimes flakiness. Just like the pores you have on your face, they can also get clogged up and inflamed just like your facial pores. Just as you would exfoliate your face to combat this issue, it's also vital that you exfoliate your scalp! Skin care is scalp care, folks!

Let's Talk About ~ Exfoliation ~

The reason we exfoliate is to remove the top layer of unwanted dead skin cells for a fresh layer of clean and vibrant skin. This is of the utmost importance because if the layer of dead skin cells sits on our face and/or scalp, it actually covers the pores and barricades them from releasing our skin's natural oils, causing pore buildup. of our pores get clogged up and creates a faster skin cell turnover rate, but it also aids your skin's ability to soak up other beneficial ingredients in our skincare and haircare products.

Scalp Revival

Our CEO and Founder, Nancy Twine, created this collection, and specifically the Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo, with her favorite exfoliating and calming ingredients:

Charcoal: detoxifies the scalp and draws out impurities that cause buildup on the scalp

Coconut Oil: Moisturizes the scalp to prevent dryness and flakiness

Peppermint, Spearmint & Tea Tree Oil Complex: Provide a cooling effect on the scalp and reduce itchiness, irritation and flakiness

Panthenol: Provides essential nutrients that strengthen the hair root and shaft.

Another incredible benefit of the Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo is that it contains plant-derived micro-exfoliators that work to gently remove dead skin cells and product buildup, so even the most sensitive of scalps can safely use this shampoo!

A look at last night: 🛁 + @briogeo I’ve been using the Scalp Revival shampoo for a few weeks now and I’m loving it. I also recently received the Scalp Revival conditioner and they’re such a power couple when paired together. I’ve always been a fan of using hair products that contain mint (Rosemary Mint by Aveda anyone?? My childhood shampoo) but this one completely takes the cake in the mint department. I love how cooling and soothing it is to the scalp, even after it’s rinsed out. I’m finding myself taking extra time (even in the morning) to give myself a mini scalp massage as it works it’s magic from root to tip. The scent is the perfect harmony of vanilla and peppermint. And the texture of the product is a unique jelly consistency, which is different for a conditioner, but good different. Already dreading the day this bottle is empty 😥

CLEAN AF🧖🏻‍♀️ _______ Guys- I got these products YESTERDAY and am posting about them literally 12 hours later because I’m THAT excited. My shaving game is forever changed with @Billie*- the razor is sharp, flexible, and conditioning, and the body wash is a lathery burst of grapefruit that I’m already obsessed with. I’ve typically used Venus razors, and have tried Dollar Shave Club & Harry’s- both of which were super disappointing. Billie’s razor performs significantly better than any I’ve tried, plus is super cute. Believe the hype here. ALSO finally tried @briogeo’s Scalp Revival and Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioner*, both of which I enjoyed, but for me, the standout was Scalp Revival. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did, but it’s intoxicating peppermint scent and creamy texture have won me over. This exfoliating shampoo was a sensory experience for me, and I’m already excited to use it again. Have you guys tried any of these babies? Did you love them as much as me? I am so obsessed I might go hop in the shower again now.
